Training
Hi alois,
i am very keen to be a good tt player but how should i train to be one?
Thanks a lot
Hi Mat,
The most important thing is to get a lot of good quality hours on the table.
You should structure your session well. Start with a warm up then an on table warm up of about 5 minutes on each side.
Then some footwork drills each lasting 7 to 10 minutes. You can do 2 to 3 of these.
Then some match drills. So some drills starting with a serve.
Then finish with some matches. A session should last between 90 and 120 minutes.
If you want a template go to the free Training Plan (Word) and you can enter in your session. If you want more help take a look through what we have to offer in our Training Secrets course in our Lessons. This will also explain the drills that you can use and what the purpose of each of the drills is to help you to improve different aspects of your game.
By throwing in some long returns you will keep your opponent off balance so when you do return the ball short they can't just be standing there waiting for it. But your long serve needs to be effective so they can't attack it too strongly. Watch this master class to find out all the important information about returning long.
