Training
What would you consider to be the strengths and weaknesses of training with a robot? I am an intermediate grandmaster player and have no one at home to train with. If one was to buy a robot what features in the robot should it have that would best simulate multi ball training or play? Have you come across any robots that you would recommend or have heard players or coaches use in their training?
Hi Duane,
I did a Blog a while ago that might answer a lot of your queries.
Take a look at Table Tennis Robots. I don't have one that I recommend at this stage. There are a lot out there and I am not really up to date with the market. Others readers that have used them or perhaps own one now may be able to comment.
As far as features, try to get one that is able to vary the placement as well as being able to do all types of spin. If it can change between spins from one shot to the next that would be ideal.
This week we switch the focus to your backhand attacking technique. If you can develop your backhand topspin your opponent will not be able to pin you down and this will take your game to a new level. With regards to the serve you have been working on, we introduce some tests that you can use to monitor your progress over time.
