I'm having a problem on my serve toss

Every time I toss the ball for my serve the ball gets a spin before I contact it.  I feel like my serve is less spinny because of it.

Can you give me tips to have a no spin toss and generate more spin in my serve.

I want to practice my serves with the same stroke but different spin to deceive my opponent

do you have some tutorial video or advice to do this? I watch some deceiving serves such as Samsonov and Mizutani to have an idea. But I don't know how they practice it.

Hi Raoul,

When you start your serve have the ball in the palm of your hand and then toss the ball straight up from there.  This will mean that you won't be getting spin on the toss.

To then generate spin on the serve you need to follow a couple of principles of brushing the ball on the contact and then brushing it faster.

To learn about the mechanics of that we have the Serving Secrets section of the site which goes through in detail all of these aspects and will help you to learn how to serve at a high level.

For deception of serves, getting a similar start and finish position of the bat is the focus.  Players like Samsonov and Mizutani have practiced their serves for many years to get it to their level.

Start by learning to generate spin and then you can work on the deception.
