Service types

Serving

Hi,

I've tried many types of serve, but they seem to have no effect when they pass the net. I tried pendulum, backspin or a topspin but they don't get that spin that changes their direction. Could you show me the move that I have to make with my wrist during the serve, so that I could get that spin. I suppose the rubber that I have could influence the spin right?

Thanks!

Hi Cirja,

The rubber may be a factor.  What bat are you using?

If your rubber is OK, then try to get the brushing action on the ball and then move your wrist through quickly.

We have a lot of information on how to perform good serves in our Serving Secrets series.

I'm using a Joola bat with Teacher rubber on both sides. I have the bat for 7 months i guess, and allways i try washing it after I play, and I also put the protecting plastic back on the bat. Maybe the rubber isn't sticky enough, and I also though about buying a new one.

You may need to buy a new bat to be bale to generate more spin as the rubber has probably worn out.

Ok, any suggestions on what rubber should I choose? I was thinking DHS NEO Skyline TG2 or TG3.

Yes that would be OK as a rubber.
