Hi Alois and Jeff,

I've learned the pendulum sidespin and topspin serve, also the reverse pendulum. Now, I want to improve my pendulum serve with the backspin one. I've tried it, but the ball spun to the left side not the back of the ball. How can I reach the back of the ball?

Thanks a lot
Regards, Archel

Hi Archel,

The key is the angle of your racket when you contact the ball.

Make sure you lift the end of your racket up higher.  If you lower the end of your bat you will contact the side of your racket rather than the bottom.  I find a lot of players will start with their bats flat but as they swing through with the service action the end of their bats lowers and therefore they get sidespin on the ball.  Really focus on keeping the end of your bat up high in the swing.
