Getting extra spin and arc on a fast ball

Strokes

Hi Coaches,

How do you get the ball to arc down on a fast topspin? I often lose points because my attacks lack spin and go out of the table.

Cheers

Hi Oliver,

This is an important skill.  Work firstly on getting the contact right on the topspin.  The contact needs to be a brushing contact.  Also think about the start and finish positions of the stoke.  If you do these things correctly you will start to get enough topspin to get the ball to dip.

Make sure when you increase the speed of the stroke that you maintain the contact and the technique of the stroke.  Often players will change their technique when they try to hit the ball harder.
