Training
when warming up our coach often makes us play only play using a chop or a push, u cannot do anything with top spin for about 10 mins
is this a good idea? I'm not a defensive player and my bat is not suited for this style is it really necessary to train like this?
Hi David,
This is a good way of practicing concentration and also control. It is a good idea to do this sometimes.
This week's master class is called Perfecting the Push. To have a great push you need to first see how much backspin is on the ball as it is coming towards you. Then you need to alter your stroke to counter this backspin. You also need to concentrate on generating your own backspin to make it harder for you opponent.
