Improving ball position on rubber

Strokes

Hi Coach,

I noticed most (elite) players have a very small area on their rubber where they hit the ball each time. Its about the size of a table tennis ball. Each shot is hit on the same location on the rubber. This is something I don't have and I would like to improve. When I hit have hits all over the bat. And most are in the center. Any tips on how I can improve this.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Saqib,

The best way to improve this is during your warm up hitting.

At the start of each training session when you are hitting forehands consistently and backhands consistently, for some of the time focus on the feel of where the ball is hitting on your racket.  Each time the ball hits your racket, think about where it hit.  You don't need to stop and look at the racket after each shot but just do it by the feeling you get.  You will start to feel when the ball hits the centre of your racket and when it hits closer to the edge.  Simply by putting focus on this for a little time each training session you will start to improve your consistency.
