How to use pimple racket?
Hi Carlo,
There are a few types of Pimple rackets, Short, Medium and Long Pimples.
Short Pimples behave similar to an inverted rubber however they tend to generate less spin and also are left excepted by spin.
Long Pimples 'reverse' the spin and it is difficult to generate much spin with them.
Medium Pimples are somewhat in between. They do tend to 'reverse' the spin on the ball but not as much as the long pimples and they are a little easier to attack with.
We have a couple of tutorials about using Long pimples. Take a look at Long Pimple Chop Block and the Long Pimple attack against backspin.
Also take a look at How to play with Short Pimple rubbers.

When playing penhold players it is important to remember to first analyse your opponent as you would if they used any grip. What are their strengths and weaknesses? A common weakness of penhold players is their forehand block especially against a slow spinny topspin. Their backhand may be a weakness if they use the traditional style, or you may wish to explore the crossover point if they are using the reverse penhold backhand.
