How To Counter Low Fast Topspin Balls

Strokes

Hello Alois,

It seems I miss low fast balls to my forehand. Just on low topspin balls. This happens during warm-up or game situations. If the ball is higher, it isn't an issue. This is new to me. What do I need to do to correct this problem?

Hi Ed,

This is a tricky contact to master.  The topspin on the incoming ball can sometimes grip more than you think or sometimes grip less than you think.

The main teaching point I stress with this is to have a very fast action on your counter stroke.  This will help to minimise the effect of the spin on the ball coming to you.  To do this you also need to be in a good position and balanced well.
