Hi Alois, Jeff and Pingskills Team

How to deal with a high chop ball? I mean, my opponent chops the ball and when it bounces to my table, it bounces high enough so I find it difficult to play with my forehand/backhand. But, when I push the ball, it doesn't make it through the net.

Thank you

Regards,
Archel

Hi Archel,

This can often be a harder ball than it looks.  It is important to still deal with the backspin on the ball by lifting the ball a bit even though it is already quite high.  If you hit it flat it will get dragged down into the net.

Should I hit the ball with a topspin or a loop?

Take a look at the lessons above.  The strokes are similar but a topspin is usually more appropriate.

Ok. I was asking because you said I should play a loop on a backspin.

And I was also wondering if I could flick the ball?

I'll try that out.
