I have been playing with long pips on my backhand for many of years. Just this week I decided to put short pips on my paddle too. Is this a wise decision and should I have sponge on my short pips side? Plus which pips should I use for my backhand?

Hi Emmanuel,

If you are going to use short pips you should have some sponge under the pimples.  It can be an effective method of playing.

I would use the long pimples on the backhand and the short pips on the forehand as a more attacking rubber.

I don’t have a preference of short pips.  Try a few out and see what you like.  Others may be bale to help you with some suggestions.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!
