hi pingskills,

what should i do  when the ball is high on my backhand? when i mean high i don't mean the smash high but round about medium height). Sometimes i try to chop the ball or topspin it (my backhand topspin isn't really that strong) but most of the time it flies off the table or it hits high on the opponent's side. plz help.

Hi Basel,

I think the best shot in this situation is the Backhand topspin.  You may need to adjust your starting position.  Get your racket up higher at the start so that you are coming over the ball more.  If you start in the normal position you will have to come up too vertically and therefore lift the ball too high.

What i do is try to smash it and if you have time to move, move across and hit it with the forehand topspin or smash

I think that's an ideal answer, Frendy. The player must move right after his opponent hit the ball, before the ball bounce on the table. But my legs are too lazy (haha), so I don't do that often. What I often do is doing some kind of "punch-block", doing a backhand drive right after the ball bounce. Doesn't have really high success rate, though, just around 60%....
