Smashing off the bounce

Strokes

Hi alois,

When i receive the lob, you told me to hit it at quiet high position, right? About 45 degrees downwards. But i Thought that the bounce of the smash is lobbing too.. so i have my own way, it is to wait the ball at the low position or smash it before it is going high.. i think it is make the ball slopping, it is not bouncing high, so there is less opportunity for the opponent to strike back or counter my smash, because if the ball bounce high, however that looks like a lob too, but the faster version, some times if the ball bounce not really far from the table, the opponent can make make smash, right?

I want to hear your opinion, is it good to maintain or not? And why?

Thank you

Hi Kevin,

It is a risky stroke but it is effective if it works for you.  It is risky because the ball is rising fast off the table.

I think it is better to wait for the ball to rise and then come down.  You are going to have a high percentage chance of winning the point from that position.  If you take the ball early I think you are decreasing your chances of winning the point.
