Forehand loop Inconsistency

Strokes

Hi,

I use Donic Coppa JO Gold in my FH and Yinhe Moon in my BH on a Andro Supercell blade. I find that when I am hitting a forehand topspin off a chop return, I'm imparting a fair amount of spin, the ball follows a low trajectory arc over the net and most often cause trouble to opponents or practice partners. But when I'm hitting a FH topspin off blocks or no spin returns, my shots are inconsistent. Most travel off the board, some even sink in the net. Also I find that sometimes the ball reaches me earlier than I get my bat in the ready position. Am I following a big action which gives me less time to prepare for the next shot? ( In this case what should I do?) Or is it because I am using a fast attacking rubber which is not good at providing spin to the ball?

Thanks

Hi Arnab,

This will be something to do with your stroke rather than the rubber.  Try to get a more brushing contact on the ball when you make contact for the topspin.  Perhaps you are contacting the ball too flat.  If you can generate topspin on these shots they will become more consistent.

Hi,

In my practice session I did try to concentrate on the brushing. At first it still was contacting flat and then I tried to make my action from back to front a bit rather than down to up. The consistency improved a bit. Also I found that I was making my action unnecessarily big. So I tried to make myself compact. Altogether my forehand consistency has improved now.

Thanks for the advice. It was wrong of me to put my error on the rubber.
