Strokes
How do u keep your power and have lots of accuracy
Hi Ryan,
The first thing is to develop good control with the stroke. You need to have good technique. Work on the start and finish positions of the stroke. Take a look at the lesson on the Backhand Topspin.
Once you have done that then you can start to hit the ball faster. If you maintain your stroke through the faster shot you will get better accuracy. It is difficult at times to do this but with a lot of practice you will be able to get speed and accuracy with the Backhand Topspin.
If you get confident in the stroke you can start to get the finish position a little further on front to get a bit more speed.
Question actions
How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
