Strokes
Hi , I was just watching Mens Singles Table Tennis Final at London Olympics between Wang Hao and Zang Jike . I was so much surprised to see Zang Jike creating so much speed during a rally from his backhand . So can you please explain me how he was creating so much speed from just an small action , so that I can also apply it and can improve my game .
Hi Tushar,
I bet you enjoyed the match. Don't forget he has played for a long time and has impeccable timing.
It may seem like he is not using much of an action but he is using his wrist very effectively. You must hit a lot of balls to time the ball that well and hit such effective and consistent shots.
How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
