hi alois and jeff,

recently i've started to play table-tennis seriously and got a bat with" tenergy 05" rubber both sides,i try over and over the strikes of the backhand and have only

  • 30% of the backhand push
  • 45%of the backhand top spin
  • 35% of the backhand flick

I have seen all of your free lessons about backhands, trained a lot about the position of every thing and still cant get them into the rival's table.  my forehand is much stronger about 95%.I lost some games because of the backhand(twice i lost finals, and few league games).  can you give me few tips and suggestions to help me,

thanks anyway,

daniel.

Hi Daniel,

It sounds like the rubber is too fast for your backhand.  Tenergy is a very fast rubber and a lot of top players till find it too fast for their game.  Your forehand may have better technique and you probably have more confidence in the stroke.

It would be better to use a rubber with a bit more control.  When we use a rubber that is too fast we start to change our technique rather than focusing on keeping the technique correct and developing confidence in your strokes.
