Training
Hello!
Tomorrow is a day when I go on vacation 2 weeks and with this I know I won't be able to go to trainings and play at all. What I was thinking is if I could build up muscles. Like go jogging or doing exercises (90 degrees, push ups, sit ups) Between, would be happy to know more exercises. What do you think a table tennis player should do to keep their physical performance up. I know that my strokes will go down a bit but I can refresh them after the vacation.
Thanks and good wishes from Dima!
Hi Dima,
It is great that you are thinking about some off table activities that you will be able to do.
I don't know your physical ability but anything is good to start with. If you are capable of doing some jogging then that will be beneficial. You can also do some side stepping to improve speed with this movement.
Also try spending 5 or 10 minutes a day just quietly thinking about your strokes and your game. You can imagine yourself playing the strokes or even do some shadow swings (doing the strokes without the ball).
Question actions
By throwing in some long returns you will keep your opponent off balance so when you do return the ball short they can't just be standing there waiting for it. But your long serve needs to be effective so they can't attack it too strongly. Watch this master class to find out all the important information about returning long.
