Vacation and Training

Training

Hello!

Tomorrow is a day when I go on vacation 2 weeks and with this I know I won't be able to go to trainings and play at all. What I was thinking is if I could build up muscles. Like go jogging or doing exercises (90 degrees, push ups, sit ups) Between, would be happy to know more exercises. What do you think a table tennis player should do to keep their physical performance up. I know that my strokes will go down a bit but I can refresh them after the vacation.

Thanks and good wishes from Dima!

Hi Dima,

It is great that you are thinking about some off table activities that you will be able to do.

I don't know your physical ability but anything is good to start with.  If you are capable of doing some jogging then that will be beneficial.  You can also do some side stepping to improve speed with this movement.

Also try spending 5 or 10 minutes a day just quietly thinking about your strokes and your game.  You can imagine yourself playing the strokes or even do some shadow swings (doing the strokes without the ball).

By visualising yourself playing Table Tennis, you can improve your skills without having to actually hit a ball. Of course you still need to practice actually playing the game but this can help you perfect your technique. Watch the master class for some ideas on how to do this.
