Miscontact with Fingers

Strokes

I'm having some problem with receive on either serve return or on forehand drill where I sometimes miscontact the ball with my thumb on forehand or pointing finger in backhand but this error occurs 90% on my forehand. This usually happens in my forehand drills or serve return.

What should I do or practice to  stop my fingers on miscontacting the ball.

Hi Raoul,

When you are hitting up slowly at the start of a session, just focus on where on the bat the ball is hitting.  Each time pay attention to this.  Feel how close you are getting the contact to the middle of your racket.

If you do this for 5 minutes at the start of each session you will find that you will start to become more aware of the contact.  While doing this you will naturally start to watch the ball better as well which is a key to overcoming this issue.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
