Trouble with Backhands

Strokes

Hi!

I am a growing table tennis player, and I have a fairly decent and consistent forehand shot. My trouble and weakness is my backhand. I cannot seem to get a decent contact 10 times out of 10, let alone get much topspin or any other spin on it.  Sometimes I get an awesome backhand shot, but roughly 6 times out of 10 I cannot make a decent shot, only a soft one. Please help :)

Hi Donovan,

Take a look at the lessons on the Backhand Counterhit.  Do it slowly at first and just make sure the stroke is correct.  Once you get this right then you can start to speed it up and use it more in games.
