Hello Pingskills

Is there a similarity between the technique for a slow spiny topspin and topspin of backspin?

Hi Marcin,

Yes very much so.  They are the same stroke just the slow spinny topspin is a slow version of that done by brushing the ball finer.

Hijacking this thread to say that week 2 of the Pingskills training program which I did yesterday (focusing on this stroke) was great! :)

It felt really useful. I love third ball attacks, but I mostly succeed in it after serving topspin.

Only problem with the session was that my partner kept misjudging which push to pivot on, so he damaged his forehand rubbers so badly that he feels he needs to by new ones :p
