Strokes
My question is on counter hitting. I do not always hit at the top of the bounce. I am late, then I have to use some topspin sometimes. Should I start to swing early as the ball is coming up?
Thanks!
Hi Joseph,
It is probably ideal to hit at the top of the bounce in general. However, if you are hitting it later it is OK too. It will give you a different type of ball.
If you want to hit the ball at the top of the bounce then you will need to start swinging a bit earlier.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
