Serving
hi alois, i really need help an important tournament is comig and I only have a tomahawk and ghost serve i have pendulum and reverse pendulum but they are very weak and only have 1 variations each and they get easily flicked so i was watching timo boll serves and they are really good ive tried them but i only get dead balls so how can i make timo bolls pendulum and reverse pendulum serve and getting the spin.
Hi Leonel,
Firstly if you have a tournament coming up I would just stay with the serves you know well. It is difficult to learn new serves and use them in a tournament straight away.
If you are looking to serve like Timo, keep watching his serves as much as possible. Try to get a more brushing action on the contact. The contact is the key to the spin. It sounds like you are contacting the ball too flat.
The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.
