Watching the top Chinese players, they have a tendency in close to the table top spin rallies to prepare the racquet head to play a backhand shot, quickly switching to the forehand if the opportunity arises. Their ready position is apparently not neutral but favours the backhand. Are the Chinese rewriting the textbooks?

Their balance is so good they seem to be able to do this. They also have such good speed with their waist to change direction and still swing through fast.
