Tennis elbow

I have developed a pain in my elbow that seems to be "tennis elbow" and it seems to be from table tennis.  Are there any common mechanics problems in my game that could cause this condition?  Are there any steps to be taken to prevent this condition?

Thanks,

Frank

Hi Frank,

I find when I am doing something repetitively it can happen.  The Pendulum serve keeping my elbow up high can do it.  Also practicing backhand topspin where you are focusing on finishing the follow through with the wrist can also do it for me.

#37 - Forehand 3rd Ball Attack

The forehand topspin off backspin is one of the most important strokes in Table Tennis. Even more important is the ability to serve and then make this attack off the 3rd ball. This is one of the most common tactics in Table Tennis and one you should practice regularly.

Hi Alois,

I have been practicing the backhand topspin follow through.  Is there anything other than foregoing practice to stave off tennis elbow?

Hi Frank,

That sounds like it.  Try to keep the arm and finger more relaxed as you go through.  Perhaps limit the amount of practice you do at the one time.  Maybe more shorter sessions rather than a longer session.
