I was first taught to play penhold and that’s what I stuck with, but now I am switching to shakehand. I am wondering what skills will transfer over and what should I be avoiding?

Hi Miranda,

A lot of skills will transfer over to shake hand.  Your footwork, balance, movement, Forehand techniques.  he main thing that is different is the backhand technique.  This is something that you will be able to develop.

Don't avoid anything... just work at adapting your skills.
