hi, i everyday play table tennis with my friend who does always a backspin serve. After I recieve the serve he then again does backspin and he keeps on doing backspin. I can give back most of the shots but I can't play freely. My question is that how to recieve his backspin serve so that he is not able to do backspin again and if he does backspin agin which strategy shall I apply

Hi Abhinav,

I think it is best to try and topspin the first backspin ball he gives you.  The more backspin balls you play the harder it becomes to make the topspin.

Take a look at the Forehand Topspin Off Backspin lesson.

Hi Abhinav,

If the serve is long (doesn't bounce twice on your side of the table), then you will be able to topspin it once you've developed your stroke enough. This is really the only option to stop him from making another backspin shot. If you push the ball back he will certainly be able to push it back to you again. Although in this case I'd also advise him to make a topspin too! :)

With regards to the placement, it all depends on your opponent. Does he prefer the ball to the backhand, forehand or middle? Place it more often to where you think it will cause the most trouble.

Good luck with this and remember to keep developing your forehand topspin off backspin, it will really help you take your game to a new level.
