what do all the spins mean like sidespin,backspin,topspin

im confused

Hi Amar,

The different sping describe the way the ball is spinning.

If you are hitting the ball, Backspin means that the top of the ball is spinning directly towards you.

Topspin menas the top of the ball is spinning away from you.

Sidespin means the ball is rotating on a vertical axis, similar to the way the world turns.  With sidespin you can have the ball rotating either to the left or to the right.

Also with sidespin, the ball can rotate on a horizontal axis.

With the vertical axis..the ball curves in flight and continues when it hits the table.

 With the horizontal axis, the ball has little curve in flight but bounces sharply left or right when it hits the table.
