Hitting against a wall

I'm curios about this I read on your About Us page.

Alois began by hitting a ball up against the wall at home for hour upon hour.

Did you hit the ball on a half table and hit it against the wall or did you play on a full table and hit it against the wall like a return board?

Hi Charlie,

It was simply hitting against the wall with no table at all.  I would let it bounce on the wooden floor.

Any hitting of this sort at a young age is beneficial to develop coordination and a feel for the ball.

It is something that you can do almost anywhere.

#30 - Flick and Long Fast Push

By throwing in some unexpected long returns you will keep your opponent off balance and this will make each short push you do so much more effective. That's why it's important to be able to return long. You've got 2 options. You can flick the ball or push it long and fast. This week our focus is on these types of returns.

Thanks for sharing Alois! I didn't know hitting it against a wall and letting it bounce would develop someone to become a good table tennis player. I think I've seen this kind of practice before. It's a practice for Tennis players to improve getting to the ball as fast as possible and hit it against the wall.
