Strokes
Alois, how do i know when to smash, i want to know this because when i find out, i think my matches will be so much easier to win.
Another question, do you have any tips on defending a smash because i have no idea and this is the reason why i lose my matches.
If you didint guess already, i am a beginner and i need your help.
THX :D
Hi Jahan,
A good guide about smashing is if the ball is above shoulder height then you can try to smash it.
Take a look at our lesson on the Forehand Smash.
If they are smashing at you firstly it means that you are giving them the opportunity by putting the ball too high. Try to keep the ball lower and away from their stronger side.
If they do get a higher ball and make a smash then you should move back away from the table to give yourself more time to see the ball. Then make a Lob stroke.
The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:
If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.
