Strokes
How do you do the forehand smash? It keeps on going to the net or goes a little bit too far. Also, do you have any tips on how to block a smash with good reflexes, not by luck?
Hi Greg,
The first thing to think about with the Smash is the hitting point. It needs to be at around head or shoulder height or perhaps a little higher. A common mistake is to hit the ball when it is too high and then dragging it down into the net.
The other common mistake is to not move into position. When the ball goes up high our eyes light up and we move our bat to try and smash it, instead of making good position first. Use the time the ball is in the air to get into good hitting position.
The stroke needs to be quite flat with the swing starting at shoulder height and coming through almost straight forward.
Try these tips out and see how it goes.
