Hello,

Could you tell me what are the keys to a slow spinny serve? If I brush the ball fast I get the spin I want but at the same time the speed it too high. I want to be able to shift this speed/spin balance towards the spin.

Thanks, Pavel.

Hi Pavel,

The more you brush the ball (finer contact), the slower the ball will go.  So a thick contact makes the ball go fast and thin makes it go slow.  With the same action you can get different speeds by just varying the type of contact.

Try it out and let me know how it works.

Thanks for the reply!

I want to make sure one thing. On a sidespin serve it's not so difficult for me to get more spin because in this case the ball moves along the blade. It's more difficult to do it with backspin serve because the ball moves perpendicular to the blade of the racket. I would really like to master the backspin serve because I would like to get a double bounce and keep the serve low. So what is the key to the backspin serve? Should I toss not high or is it something else?

Thanks, Pavel.

no,not neccessarily anything else just that you need to keep the ball in front of you and hit it low and with a small spin.
