I use a shakehand grip and sometimes my backhand takes sidespin. Is this common?

Hi Matias,

The reason it will be getting sidespin is because you are not hitting the ball straight on.  Make sure the whole of your bat comes through evenly on contact.  If the tip of your bat comes through first then it will have sidespin.

As a training method try to experiment with spinning the ball different ways.  Even try to get it to spin with the opposite sidespin.  By doing this you will start to get a better feel for what your hand and bat are doing.
