I'm a beginner and I just started practicing a side spin serve, how can I get more spin more consistently?

Hi Will,

There is a short answer to this one.  Practice...

Remember to generate spin you need to contact the ball finely and quickly. This is a very fine skills and therefore needs lots of training.  Even the best players still practice their serves because the body needs to keep finely tuned with sucha complex skill.
