Here's a great in-depth article on table tennis shoes by Alex Polyakov, author of "Breaking 2000": http://www.breaking2000.com/table-tennis-shoes/.

The author also makes recommendations based on the fact that many of us do not play on official table tennis floors, such as Gerflor or Teraflex.

For the record, I just bought a pair of Asics Gel-Rocket 7 volleyball (yes, volleyball!) shoes to play table tennis.
