Hi Alois,

I appreciate the way you dissect the fundamentals of the game. I have some Serving questions that may appear very basic. I understood from your lessons that a serve is a combination of speed, spin and placement. I have also watched your lesson on Service Depth. My question is on how to achieve the desired Service depth, meaning, while serving, where I should focus on hitting the ball on my side of the table to create a short, midrange or a long serve. I would appreciate a reply and a video lesson on that will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Mohammed

Hi Mohammed,

For all of the serves you can get the ball to bounce quite close to you on your side.  For a faster serve, contact the ball flatter.  For a shorter serve, contact the ball finer.

If we get some Premium members voting for this as a video response we will try to get one done.

No Spin Serve

It may sound like a bad idea but the no spin serve can be effective when put together with a range of spin serves. In fact, this is a must have in your arsenal of serves.

Yes do a video, it will be very helpful.  I always was taught to hit a short serve your ball has to bounce close to the net on you side, then it would be short on the other side.
