Serving
howdy coach :)
im trying to improve my service, how do you exactly do service drills
all i do is whack away and try to create more spin into the ball and i placed some bottle caps in the extremes of the table and try to hit that spot with my serves to practice serve placements am i doing it correctly?
i am not sure if it is right or wrong. I've been practicing the tomahawk serve and its reverse version varying spins
Can you give me some advice to further improve my drills
thanks coach
the ask the coach feature is a life saver d(^^,) greatest feature ever :)
Hi Amekun,
You are doing some good things in practice. As a next step place the caps closer to the net so that you are practicing shorter serves.
Try to make each serve better. Sometimes we just get a bucket of balls and practice serving with out thinking. This can be good for repetitive feel but as you get better try to get your service practice to replicate your actual service in a match. This involves having a similar preparation to when you are serving in a match.
The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.
