Hello PingSkills,

How to make a spinny serve after which the ball would be low, then he hit the opponent racket and he would go down to his side of the table (some says that the ball died)? How to make a died ball serve?

Sorry for my english, I don't know how to describe this serve.

Thank You for answer

Hi Tom,

To do this you need to put backspin on the ball.

To get backspin you need to brush the ball with your bat starting above the contact point and finishing below the contact point.  This will get the ball to rotate backwards and give you the backspin on the ball.

The Kicker Serve

The kicker serve is one of our "must learn" serves. It's fast, fun, and has lots of topspin. It can be dangerous because if it's not fast enough and if you don't surprise your opponent then they may be able to attack it forcefully putting you on the defensive straight away. Used well though, and sparingly, it can be a great weapon. It can win you a point outright and it will stop your opponent from standing over the table waiting for your short serves since they need to be ready for anything.
