I was watching the Kuwait open 2012 table tennis finals in the stadium yesterday and I got up close to Ryu and saw that his blade was not a circle all around, but had like a square looking blade,I am a penholder too so here is my question : Is it better to use a regular circle blade,or use a blade like Ryu's as i am about to make my own racket. Thank you,

Moataz

Hi Moataz,

Some penholders play with a more rectangular blade.  This is especially so for the Japanese and Korean penholders.

It is a preference.  If you like the style of the Koreans and Japanese then copy them and use the rectangular blade.  If you like the chinese penhold style then use a round bat.

Thank you Alios, for your feedback,  i guess i will stick with my regular blade,as i am more of a Chinese penholder for forehand,& a Japanese backhand !

does anyone know what rubber ryu uses on his forehand, i noticed how good his loops are, i realise this is more due to skill and training than equipment but was just curious what rubber he uses. im guessing probably tenergy or an xiom rubber?
