How can I topspin against sidespin-topspin? And where's the best place to position yourself?

Hi Lukas,

You need to allow for the sidespin.  The sidespin will drag the ball to the left in most cases.  It is probably easiest to play it back with sidespin coming around the left hand side of the ball.

Take a look at our lesson on the Sidespin Forehand Topspin.

Forehand Counterhit

The forehand counterhit or forehand drive is the foundation for more attacking strokes such as the forehand topspin or forehand loop. There are 3 critical factors:

  1. Your feet position
  2. Your start position
  3. Your finish position

If you concentrate on these 3 factors then your stroke will become extremely consistent. Once you can reliably hit 100 balls in a row then you are ready for more attacking strokes. If you can hit 1,000 balls on in a row then you know you've truly mastered the stroke.

Need I brush the ball bland? Or should I hit the ball with more advance?

Try to get the fastest contact you can and still get the ball on the table.

You have to be careful that the ball doesn' go off to the side with the sidespin on the ball.
