I frequently have trouble effectively returning backspin shots that bounce somewhat high on the backhand side.  I don't have time to move to a forehand smash and when I try and take the a backhand off the apex my the shot ends up weak. Your advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Take a look at our tutorial on the Backhand Smash which will show you the best method for that high ball.  If the ball has backspin, make sure you open the face of the racket a bit to counteract the spin.  You can even still topspin this ball.
