http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3NtVcuA-Qg&feature=channel (25 second mark). this is similar to the serve my friend is doing. I can return it after he does it repetedly but even when i do its not a very good return and he is set up for a strong hit. How should i angle the paddle and is there a way to hit this back more effectively and faster?? thank you! love the videos :)
Hi Jake,
This is the tomahawk serve being done by Jeff.
This has sidespin. Then you need to check whether the serve also has backspin or topspin. Then it is a matter of using the angle of your bat to steer the ball back onto the table. To allow for the sidespin you need to angle the bat to the side. In the case of this serve it would be facing it to the right. Then either up or down slightly to allow for the topspin or backspin.
