Returning a smash close to the table

Smash need far away to return. But how about close ????...

Hi John,

This is a very difficult shot.  If you a re close and they are about to smash, you need to just watch the ball as carefully as you can and try to get a bat onto it to make a Block.  Don't try to do too much with the return.  Just blocking the ball will surprise them.
