Serving
Hi Alois! By the way, I've been winning a lot of matches in our training camp for table tennis. Thanks to your videos and tips!
Now, I've been wondering, for example, you know how to serve the pendulum and reverse pendulum serve. As well as a backspin Tomahawk serve, and a short backspin backhand serve. How often would you use each of this serves, knowing that you change every 2 services.
I have yet to master pendulum serves, but I think I'm getting to it. You have been a really great help, not only to me, but to others as well. Thank you very much.
Hi Rey,
Firstly thanks for your kind words.
Serving routines are up to the individual. I never competed when the 2 serves came in but I used to like to have a set of 5 serves the same with variations in spin, speed and placement. I found it settled me and allowed me to get a rhythm. Others like to change serves each serve.
I think one think to note is that if you find a serve that is working well, you should use it often. If you are still trying to find something that they don't like, then keep changing your serves until you find something that is working well.
In this lesson we show you how to execute the Backhand Tomahawk serve. This is a good complement to the Tomahawk serve. By utilising a similar action, it will make it difficult for your opponent to tell which way the ball and spin are going.
