When I do a backhand loop, I find it hard to recover from the finish position. If I try to automatically transition from it my stroke doesn't turn out as efficient. How do I effectively transition?

Think about using more wrist and less arm to allow yourself to be more balanced. This shorter stroke will mean a faster recovery and also still allow you to generate reasonable power and spin.
The other thing to focus on is the balance in your leg while yo play the shot, even if it is a bigger shot. Have a wider base and a lower leg position to allow this to happen.
