Hey Jeff,
I've realised from watching your online lessons, that in order to execute a controlled stroke you need to be in the stroke ready position before the ball bounces on your side of the table.
Is this right ?
Hi Pier,
This is an improtant step.
One of the things I use when teaching footwork is to get theplayer to get the rhythm of HIT... MOVE... STOP... HIT...
If you watch the best players, it all looks easy because they have more of a time to stop than the average player.
The STOP is a very important part of this process. Do it with some regular footwork drills to start with to get the process correct.
Most players are told to always return to the ready position after every stroke but that might be hurting your game. In this video, we reveal a smarter way to recover:
✔ Track the ball immediately after your shot
✔ Move your racket into position for the next shot instead of blindly resetting
✔ Improve your timing, balance, and flow during rallies
Whether you’re a beginner or advanced player, understanding this subtle change can have a big impact on your consistency and speed around the table.
