I'm 11 and have been playing for about 6 months. My coach says I shouldn't push too much in matches and topspin etc more. But when I watch professional matches the majority of points are based around pushing. So is my coach right?

thanks

HI Benedict,

Your coach is right.  You should definitely try to make as many attacking strokes as you can in a match.  You will find that in a match the first player to attack usually wins the point.

The more you try to make an attacking stroke (during matches) the faster you become better at it, but don't lose to many matches because of it... Don't get yourself demotivated by trying to hard! Personaly I practiced new strokes in matches against weaker opponents were I was 2-0 up orso, or I practiced against very strong opponents witch I could'nt beat anyway.

Good luck!
