Hi alois and jeff,

I have a terrible time against heavy pushes. i often lose points by making them go into the net. How do i generate good backspin and yet get the ball over the net? i tried an upward action where i create the spin and at the same time get the ball over the net but its too inconsistent. Plz tell me how i can receive them!

Also how do i topspin half long balls with heavy backspin?

Thanks

Hi Shripathi,

Try opening the angle of the ball when you are pushing.  This will counter the spin on the ball.

To make a topspin off half long balls you need to get your legs down low and get under the ball.

Get the bat to start low and finish high with a more vertical action.
