How to receive pendulum serve without any advantages from your opponent

Like with each serve it is a matter of getting your bat angle right to deal with the spin.

To develop your touch and feel for the ball make sure you are also keeping your hand relaxed so that it absorbs some of the speed and spin on the ball.

The Pendulum serve usually has some sidespin on the ball so it is a matter of watching for the sidespin and then seeing whether it has backspin or topspin as well on the ball.  For the sidespin make sure you are following the ball and getting close to it.  It is often a trial and error to get this right and that is why training is so important so that you give yourself lots of opportunities to see and return serves like this.
